Jalkatukea is the Finnish term for devices that support, cushion, and stabilize the foot. They are used inside shoes or as external braces and include insoles, arch supports, heel cups, wedges, and ankle-foot orthoses. In English, the term is closest to foot supports or foot orthoses.

Jalkatukea are prescribed or chosen to relieve pain, improve alignment, and redistribute plantar pressure. They are used for conditions such as flat feet (pes planus), plantar fasciitis, metatarsalgia, overpronation, arch instability, diabetic foot risk, and after certain injuries. They are also used in sport to enhance comfort and performance or in work settings to reduce fatigue.

Types range from over-the-counter insoles to custom-made orthotics. Materials include foam, EVA, silicone, cork, leather, or rigid thermoplastics. Some supports offer flexible cushioning, while others provide semi-rigid or rigid structural control to limit motion and support the arch.
