Itemtotaal is a term used in invoicing, billing, and accounting, particularly in Dutch-language contexts, to denote the total amount for a single line item on an invoice or receipt. It represents the monetary value associated with one item entry and is a key component in calculating the overall invoice total.

Typically, itemtotaal equals the unit price multiplied by the quantity, possibly adjusted by per-line discounts or surcharges. In many systems, the itemtotaal shown on the line is the amount before value-added tax (VAT); the tax amount is calculated separately and added to produce the final total. In other implementations, especially where tax-inclusive pricing is used, the itemtotaal may be presented as the line total including tax. Because invoicing templates and software differ, the exact meaning of itemtotaal can vary between systems.

The itemtotaal serves as the basis for subtotals on an invoice and is often aggregated across all lines to form the invoice subtotal, before tax, or to contribute to the final amount due. It is also a common field in data exchanges, such as electronic invoices (EDI or XML formats), where each line item needs a clear, machine-readable total.

Examples illustrate its use: unit price €15.00, quantity 2, no discount yields an itemtotaal of €30.00 (pre-tax); with a €2.00 line discount, itemtotaal becomes €28.00. If prices include VAT, the line total may be €36.00 with €6.00 as tax.
