ispruiti
Ispruiti is a genus of extinct placoderm fish that lived during the late Devonian period, approximately 360 million years ago. Fossils attributed to this genus have been recovered primarily from the Devonian strata of northern Africa, particularly within the Abadan Basin of modern-day Egypt. The genus was first described in 1978 by paleontologist Dr. L. H. Mertens based on a well-preserved adult specimen collected from a sedimentary outcrop in Kharga Desert. The remains include a distinctive pair of flattened dorsal plates and a series of angular thoracic armor that suggest a benthic, demersal lifestyle.
Morphologically, Ispruiti shares several diagnostic features with the related genus Pachyosteus, such as a robust jaw
More recent examinations of Ispruiti material using synchrotron tomography have revealed microstructural details of the dermal
