Isobároknak is the Hungarian term for isobars, lines on weather maps that connect points of equal atmospheric pressure. They are used to visualize the pressure field over a region, typically using mean sea level pressure as the reference.

Isobar spacing reflects the pressure gradient. Closely spaced isobars indicate a strong gradient and often correspond to strong winds, while widely spaced isobars imply a weaker gradient and lighter winds. The pressure values shown along isobars are usually measured in hectopascals (hPa) or millibars, with typical mean sea level pressures varying within roughly 970 to 1040 hPa in weather observations.

Winds and isobars are related through atmospheric dynamics. In the absence of friction, winds would flow parallel to isobars in a geostrophic balance. Near the surface, friction causes winds to cross isobars slightly toward lower pressure. In the Northern Hemisphere, winds circulate clockwise around high-pressure systems and counterclockwise around low-pressure systems; in the Southern Hemisphere, the directions are reversed.

Applications of isobars include weather forecasting and the assessment of wind conditions, fronts, and pressure trends. They are often used in conjunction with isotherms (lines of equal temperature) and other meteorological data to interpret current conditions and predict changes. The term isobároknak appears in Hungarian-language meteorological literature as the standard reference to these lines.
