islandsGlaciermere is a coastal archipelago consisting of numerous islands surrounding a central glacial lake named Glaciermere. Located in a remote maritime region, it features rugged coastlines, narrow channels, and a cold, wet climate. The largest island hosts Glaciermere, a freshwater lake bordered by moraines and fed by meltwater from surrounding glaciers.

Geographically, the archipelago comprises low-lying coastlines, headlands, tidal flats, and fjord-like inlets. Glaciermere lake covers several square kilometers and drains through a narrow channel to the sea, leaving a brackish outlet that connects the freshwater body to the coastal waters. Winter sea ice and strong storms regularly reshape the shoreline.

The archipelago supports subpolar habitats with boreal vegetation on larger islands and tundra on exposed sites. Coastal cliffs host seabird colonies, while nearshore waters support seals and otters. The Glaciermere watershed supports native aquatic invertebrates and migratory fish, contributing to a modest salmon and char run in season.

The islands were explored in the early modern era and named for the central lake. Today islandsGlaciermere is part of the Nordhavn Conservation Province, with protected areas including Glaciermere Reserve and several Special Protection Zones. There are no permanent residents; researchers and seasonal staff operate field stations, and traditional fishing is regulated to support conservation.

Access is by coastal ferries and occasional seaplanes to a small main-island airstrip. The economy centers on sustainable tourism, scientific research, and regulated fishing, including hiking, birdwatching, kayaking, and educational cruises that emphasize conservation.
