Iskeviä is a small village located on the west coast of the island of Mainland, Faroe Islands. The settlement is situated in the Slaettartindur municipality. With a population of approximately 40 residents, Iskeviä is an inland coastal village.

Geography and Climate

The village lies near the center of the west coast of Mainland, nestled in a low-lying area. The terrain around Iskeviä is dominated by rocky hills and expansive grasslands. The village itself is positioned on a series of small headlands, marking the focus point of a small fjord's mouth.

Climate in Iskeviä is strongly influenced by its maritime position. Temperatures are mild to cool, with heavy precipitation throughout the year. As is typical in the Faroe Islands, oceanic and mountain climate elements significantly affect the weather. Significant seasonal variations are apparent in the area, with warmest temperatures occurring during summer months.

Culture and History

No notable historical landmarks exist within Iskeviä itself; however, nearby villages, including Miðvágur, host the Kolbanargata 12 national folk museum affiliate. The majority of residents in Iskeviä engage in traditional Faroese agriculture, predominantly animal rearing and small-scale vegetable farming.

Given the remote nature of Iskeviä, accessibility is limited to using public transportation services during daylight hours. A revised village plan was proposed in recent years in an effort to better accommodate residents and promote coexistence with touristic activities. The municipality's Slaettartindur township management committee is seeking ways to optimize the efficient development and management of this small, integrated community.
