installierter

installierter is a German adjective derived from the verb installieren (to install). It is the past participle installiert used attributively to describe something that has been installed. The form shows agreement with the noun it modifies in gender, number, and case. In masculine singular nominative it is installierter; feminine singular is installierte; neuter singular is installiertes; plural is installierte.

In practical use, installierter typically appears before a noun or after a definite determiner, as in der installierte Drucker (the installed printer) or ein installierter Drucker (an installed printer). It is common in IT, hardware, and software contexts, for example installierte Software (installed software) or installierter Arbeitsspeicher (installed RAM). The word is usually attributive; in predicative position after a linking verb the corresponding participle form installiert is used, as in Der Drucker ist installiert.

Etymologically, installierter comes from installieren, which itself traces back to Latin-based and French influences via German language development of the -ieren verb class. The concept refers to something that has already undergone the installation process and is ready for use, as opposed to something not yet installed.
