An injektionsformmaskin, also known as an injection molding machine, is a manufacturing equipment used to produce parts by injection molding. This process involves injecting molten material, typically plastic, into a mold cavity. The material then cools and solidifies within the mold, taking its shape. The clamping unit's primary function is to close and hold the mold halves together with significant force, preventing the molten material from escaping during injection. The injection unit is responsible for melting the raw material, typically in pellet form, and then forcefully injecting it into the closed mold. This is usually achieved through a screw mechanism that rotates and advances, heating the plastic through friction and external heaters, and then acting as a plunger to inject the molten material.

Once the material has cooled sufficiently, the clamping unit opens the mold, and the newly formed part is ejected. Injection molding machines come in various sizes and configurations, from small machines for producing delicate components to very large machines capable of producing massive parts.
