Ilmakivääreiksi is a Finnish term that translates to "air rifles" in English. It refers to pneumatic firearms that use compressed air to propel a projectile, typically a pellet or BB. These airguns are distinct from firearms that use gunpowder as a propellant.

Ilmakivääreiksi are commonly used for recreational shooting, target practice, and pest control. They are available in various power levels and calibers, with common calibers including .177 (4.5 mm) and .22 (5.5 mm). The compressed air can be supplied in several ways: through a spring-piston mechanism, a pre-charged pneumatic (PCP) system, or a CO2 cartridge. Spring-piston air rifles require the user to cock a spring by breaking the barrel or using a lever, which compresses air. PCP rifles store a large volume of compressed air in a reservoir, allowing for multiple shots before needing to be refilled from a pump or scuba tank. CO2 powered airguns use disposable cartridges.

In Finland, as in many other countries, the ownership and use of ilmakivääreiksi are subject to regulations. While generally less restricted than firearms, certain types of airguns may have power limitations or require a permit depending on their specifications and intended use.
