Anatomy: The iliococcygeus originates from the tendinous arch of the obturator internus and portions of the inner ilium, and it inserts on the coccyx and the Anococcygeal raphe. It is innervated primarily by branches of the pudendal nerve, with additional sacral nerve contributions. Its primary function is to support pelvic viscera, maintain continence, and contribute to elevation of the pelvic floor during increasing intra-abdominal pressure.
