Hüperbaariline is a Finnish term referring to hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). This medical treatment involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber. The increased atmospheric pressure inside the chamber allows the lungs to gather much more oxygen than would be possible at normal air pressure. This extra oxygen is then transported throughout the body via the bloodstream, where it can help fight infections and promote healing.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is used to treat a variety of conditions. It is particularly effective for decompression sickness, also known as "the bends," which can affect divers who ascend too quickly. Other applications include treating carbon monoxide poisoning, non-healing wounds such as diabetic foot ulcers, and certain types of infections like necrotizing fasciitis. The therapy can also be used to aid recovery after radiation therapy for cancer, to address certain types of hearing loss, and in some cases for severe anemia.

The process typically involves the patient entering a special chamber, either a small, personal chamber or a larger, multi-person room. The chamber is then sealed and pressurized to a level higher than normal atmospheric pressure. The patient breathes 100% oxygen through a mask or hood. Treatment sessions can vary in length, usually lasting from 90 minutes to two hours, and may require multiple sessions over several days or weeks. While generally considered safe, potential side effects can include ear pressure, sinus pain, and temporary changes in vision.
