Högskolauniversitet is a term used in Sweden to refer to institutions of higher education that are granted the right to use the title "universitet" (university). This distinction is not automatically given to all higher education institutions, but rather awarded by the Swedish government based on specific criteria. Institutions that hold this designation are generally larger and offer a wider range of academic programs, particularly in research-intensive fields and at the postgraduate level, compared to those that are simply called "högskola" (university college).
The primary difference lies in the autonomy and scope of academic offerings. Universities are typically expected
