A hændelsesalarm is a notification triggered when a defined event occurs, intended to warn stakeholders and prompt a response. The term is used in Danish-language contexts to describe alarm systems and alerting processes across domains such as safety, building automation, IT monitoring, and incident management. In Danish, hændelsesalarm combines hændelse (event) and alarm.

Events can be sensor readings (temperature, smoke), equipment faults, security incidents, or abnormal operational conditions. Alarms are usually annotated with time, location, severity, and a description. They may be escalated automatically to on-call staff according to an escalation policy. Delivery channels include audible alarms, visual indicators, email, SMS, push notifications, or paging systems.

The aim is to enable fast, coordinated action and to minimize impact. Alarm systems often support scheduling, suppression to avoid nuisance alarms, and acknowledgement and closure by responders. They are typically integrated with incident management tools and may feed audit logs for compliance and post-hoc analysis.

Standards and frameworks in IT service management (such as ITIL) and safety engineering address event and alarm management, including metrics like mean time to acknowledge and mean time to resolve.
