Hyperindividualism is a sociological concept referring to an extreme form of individualism that emphasizes the absolute autonomy and self-sufficiency of the individual above all else. It suggests a societal condition where individuals prioritize their own needs, desires, and goals to such an extent that it can potentially undermine social cohesion, collective responsibility, and the common good. This philosophy often manifests in a reluctance to engage in collective action, a distrust of institutions, and a strong belief in personal freedom and choice as paramount.

In a hyperindividualistic society, the individual is seen as the sole architect of their own destiny, responsible for their successes and failures without significant recourse to societal structures or support systems.
