Hudskrapa, also known as dermaplaning, is a cosmetic procedure that involves exfoliating the top layer of dead skin cells from the face using a specialized surgical scalpel. The process aims to improve skin texture, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and remove vellus hair, often referred to as "peach fuzz."

The procedure is typically performed by a licensed aesthetician or dermatologist. Before the treatment, the skin is cleansed, and a solution may be applied to help the blade glide smoothly. The scalpel is then held at a 45-degree angle and used in short, upward strokes across the skin. This action gently scrapes away the outermost layer of the epidermis, which can appear dull and rough.

Following a hudskrapa treatment, the skin may appear slightly pink or red, but this is usually temporary and subsides within a few hours. Patients often report smoother, brighter skin immediately after the procedure. The removal of vellus hair can also make makeup application appear more seamless.
