The procedure typically involves a patient lying on a CT scanner table. Before the scan, an intravenous line is placed to administer the contrast dye. The patient's heart rate is often controlled to ensure clearer images. During the scan, which lasts only a few seconds, a rapid X-ray beam rotates around the patient, capturing multiple images.
