Highcalorific is an adjective used to describe substances that have a high calorific value, meaning they release large amounts of energy when combusted or metabolized. In energy science, the term is typically expressed as calorific or heating value and is a key metric for comparing fuels and energy-dense materials. The spelling highcalorific is nonstandard; more common forms include high-calorific and high calorific value.

Calorific value can be measured as gross (higher) calorific value or net (lower) calorific value. HHV includes the energy from condensing water produced during combustion; LHV excludes that energy. Units commonly used are megajoules per kilogram (MJ/kg) or per cubic meter (MJ/m3) for gases, and kilocalories or kilojoules per unit for foods.
