Heyetler, also known as the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, is the unicameral legislature of the Republic of Turkey. Established in 1920, it is the highest legislative body in the country, responsible for enacting laws, approving the national budget, and overseeing the executive branch. The assembly is composed of 600 members, known as deputies, who are elected by universal suffrage for a term of five years. The speaker of the assembly is elected by the deputies themselves and serves as the presiding officer.
