Hepatiitista is a term used in some communities to describe a person who has hepatitis or who actively advocates for hepatitis awareness and liver health. It is not an official medical designation, and its meaning can vary by language and context. In informal use, a hepatiitista may publicly identify as someone living with hepatitis to reduce stigma, share personal experience, or participate in support networks.

Origin and usage of the term are informal. Hepatiitista labels may be adopted by individuals or groups seeking to raise awareness, promote testing, vaccination, or access to care. Because the term is not standardized, its connotations can differ, and some people may prefer other identifiers such as “person with hepatitis” or “hepatitis advocate.”

Hepatitis refers to inflammation of the liver and can be caused by viral infections (hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E) or non-infectious factors such as alcohol use, medications, or autoimmune disease. Hepatitis A and E are usually acute and spread via the fecal–oral route; hepatitis B, C, and D are commonly transmitted through blood or body fluids. Vaccines exist for hepatitis A and B; antiviral therapies can control or cure hepatitis B and C in many cases. Management often involves regular monitoring of liver function, avoiding hepatotoxins, and adhering to medical treatment as recommended by healthcare providers.
