For instance, mutations in the *WRN* gene, which encodes the WRN helicase, are associated with Werner syndrome, a premature aging disorder characterized by accelerated cellular senescence and cancer predisposition. Similarly, mutations in *RECQL4*, another helicase gene, have been linked to Rothmund-Thomson syndrome and other genetic disorders.
