Granulos is a term used in several languages to denote granules, or small, rounded particles. In English, the equivalent term is granules, and granulos appears mainly in non-English texts or as part of compound names. The word derives from Latin granulus, meaning a small grain. Its use is often contextual, referring to granular structures across different scientific disciplines.

In biology and medicine, granules are discrete particles found within cells or tissues. They vary in size from tens of nanometers to a few micrometers and commonly serve storage, secretory, or pigment functions. Examples include glycogen granules that store glucose in liver and muscle tissue; lipid droplets that function as energy reserves; and pigment granules such as melanosomes responsible for coloration.
