Uses and nutrition: Gooseberries can be eaten fresh or used in jams, jellies, pies, and desserts. They freeze well and are used in beverages. Nutritionally, they provide vitamin C and dietary fiber and are relatively low in calories.

Varieties and cultivation: Numerous cultivars exist, including disease-resistant types such as Invicta and the Hinnonmaki series, with fruit colors ranging from green to red. Breeding continues to improve flavor, yield, and resistance. Global production is concentrated in Europe and North America, with local markets in other temperate regions.
