Geckos are a diverse group of lizards belonging to the infraorder Gekkota. They are found in warm climates around the world, from tropical rainforests to arid deserts. Geckos are known for their unique physical characteristics, including their often large eyes, which are typically lidless and covered by a transparent membrane. Many gecko species also possess specialized toe pads that allow them to climb vertical surfaces and even ceilings with remarkable agility. These pads are covered in millions of microscopic hair-like structures called setae, which create van der Waals forces that enable adhesion.

The diet of geckos varies greatly depending on the species, but most are insectivores, feeding on insects, spiders, and other invertebrates.
