Fuktkilder is a Norwegian term meaning sources of moisture, commonly used in building science, conservation and indoor-environment discussions. It denotes any process, location or material that introduces or holds water or water vapor in a structure or space.

Common fuktkilder include external infiltration (rain, groundwater, leaks in roofs and façades), internal generation (cooking, bathing, laundry, human respiration and plants), plumbing failures, condensation caused by temperature differences and inadequate ventilation, and capillary rise from wet foundations or soil. Building materials such as wood, plaster and insulation can also act as moisture reservoirs, releasing or absorbing water over time.

Identification of fuktkilder combines visual inspection (staining, efflorescence, mold growth), measurement (hygrometers, moisture meters, infrared thermography) and investigation of building details (drainage, flashing, vapor barriers). Persistent moisture can lead to mold, rot, corrosion, reduced thermal performance and health problems, and it is a major cause of structural deterioration in buildings.

Control and prevention strategies focus on eliminating or reducing moisture input and improving removal: proper drainage and waterproofing, repair of leaks, adequate ventilation and dehumidification, correct placement of vapor barriers and insulation, and maintenance of HVAC systems.
