Fuktinducerad is a term used in Swedish (and other Scandinavian languages) to describe processes, effects, or changes that are triggered by moisture or humidity. It is not a single phenomenon but an umbrella for moisture-driven changes that can occur in materials, biological systems, or engineered devices.

In materials science, fuktinducerad covers swelling and plasticization of polymers as water molecules interact with polymer chains; hydrolysis and other chemical reactions accelerated by moisture; moisture-induced phase transitions; and dimensional changes in wood, paper, fabrics, and composites. Condensation and elevated humidity can also initiate corrosion, deterioration of coatings, or adhesive failure in assemblies.

Biological contexts include moisture-dependent microbial growth, mold formation, and skin maceration from prolonged humidity. In electronics and packaging, water ingress can degrade insulating materials, promote electrochemical migration, and cause delamination.

Measurement and mitigation rely on controlling humidity and temperature, using desiccants, barrier coatings, and moisture barriers in packaging, and selecting materials with low moisture uptake. Design strategies aim to minimize fuktinducerad effects through material selection, sealing, ventilation, and environmental controls.
