Filtraatti is a Finnish rock band that emerged from the city of Tampere in 2005. The group takes its name from the Finnish word "filtraatti", meaning filter, a reference to their aim of “filtering” mainstream rock with avant‑garde influences. The founding members were guitarist and vocalist Jukka L., bassist Timo H., and drummer Kim T. They were soon joined by keyboardist Mika P., creating a quintet that mixed hard‑edge riffs with atmospheric synthesizers.

The band’s debut single, “Spiral,” was released on the independent label SoundWave in 2006 and gained attention for its complex time signatures and poetic lyrics. Filtraatti’s first full‑length album, “Reverberant,” arrived in 2007 on a partnership with the larger label RockNation. The double‑disc set combined an aggressive rock side with a softer, piano‑based side that showcased the band’s melodic ambitions. Critics praised the album’s production quality and the band’s readiness to push genre boundaries.

Filtraatti continued to evolve with the release of the EP “Chord Cascade” in 2009, and their second studio album, “Glimmer,” in 2011. “Glimmer” saw the band experiment with electronic elements and found a broader audience, charting in the top 30 of Finland’s official album chart. Subsequent releases, including the 2014 LP “Transient,” solidified their reputation as an innovative act in the Finnish alternative scene.

Touring extensively across Scandinavia, Filtraatti supported acts such as The Rasmus and performed at major festivals like Ruisrock and Polskotoim. Their stage presence is grounded in high‑energy performances and intricate visual backdrops that complement their sonic experimentation.

Throughout their career, Filtraatti has maintained a steady stream of music and live shows, with a discography that includes three albums, two EPs, and a handful of singles. The band is regarded by critics as a key contributor to the evolution of Finnish rock in the early 21st century.
