Feloid refers to a taxonomic grouping within the order Carnivora, specifically encompassing the family Felidae. This family includes all cats, both wild and domestic, such as lions, tigers, leopards, jaguars, cheetahs, pumas, lynx, and the domestic cat. Feloids are characterized by their carnivorous diet, obligate carnivory meaning they must consume meat to survive. They typically possess retractable claws (with the exception of the cheetah), specialized teeth for tearing flesh, and keen senses of sight and hearing adapted for hunting.
