Feketerigó is the Hungarian name for the common blackbird, Turdus merula. This passerine bird belongs to the thrush family, Turdidae. The male common blackbird is entirely black with a bright yellow beak and eye-ring, while the female is typically dark brown, sometimes with a lighter throat or breast. They are medium-sized birds, with a length usually between 24 and 25.5 centimeters.

The common blackbird is found throughout Europe, Asia, and North Africa, and has also been introduced to Australia and New Zealand. They inhabit a variety of environments, including woodlands, gardens, parks, and hedgerows.
