Faceontwerpers must consider lighting, camera distances, and actor comfort to ensure the facial look reads correctly on screen or stage.

Process and workflow typically involve an initial brief with the director and designer, development of reference boards and sketches, and the creation of prototypes or test makeup. They conduct fittings with actors, prepare materials for continuity across scenes, and supervise day-to-day on-set applications. Safety and hygiene are important, including allergy checks and proper removal procedures.
