Extrúziós refers to a manufacturing process where a material is forced through a shaped die to create a continuous profile. This technique is commonly used for plastics, metals, and even food products. The material, often in a softened or molten state, is pushed or pulled under pressure, taking on the precise shape of the die opening. The resulting extruded product is then cooled or solidified, maintaining its form.

In plastic extrusion, pellets are fed into a heated barrel and melted by a rotating screw. This molten plastic is then propelled through the die, forming shapes like pipes, films, window frames, and filaments for 3D printing. For metals, the process is similar, though it often involves heating the metal to a malleable temperature. Aluminum is frequently extruded to create complex shapes for construction and automotive industries. Food extrusion is used to produce items like pasta, cereals, and snack foods, where heat and pressure can also alter the texture and structure of the ingredients.
