Esijännityslangat, also known as prestressed concrete strands, are high-strength steel wires or bundles of wires used in prestressed concrete construction. These strands are subjected to a high tensile force before or after the concrete is poured and hardened. This pre-tensioning or post-tensioning introduces internal compressive stresses into the concrete, which counteract the tensile stresses that develop when the structure is subjected to external loads.
