The disease is characterized by severe neurological symptoms, including ataxia, paralysis, and coma, which typically lead to death within a few days of symptom onset.

Epitopille is believed to be transmitted through direct contact with infected cats or contaminated surfaces. The virus primarily affects young cats, with a peak incidence in kittens aged 4 to 12 weeks. The disease has a worldwide distribution, with outbreaks reported in various countries.
