Endoszkópia is a medical procedure that involves the insertion of an endoscope into the body to visualize internal organs and structures. An endoscope is a long, flexible or rigid tube equipped with a light source and a camera. The camera transmits images to a monitor, allowing medical professionals to observe the inside of the body in detail. This minimally invasive technique is used for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.

Diagnostic endoscopy helps identify the cause of various symptoms such as pain, bleeding, or changes in bowel habits. It can detect abnormalities like inflammation, ulcers, polyps, or tumors in organs such as the esophagus, stomach, intestines, lungs, and bladder. Biopsies can be taken during the procedure for further examination. Therapeutic endoscopy allows for the treatment of certain conditions without the need for traditional surgery. Examples include removing polyps, stopping bleeding, dilating narrowed passages, or placing stents.

The specific type of endoscope and the procedure performed depend on the area of the body being examined. Common examples include gastroscopy (examining the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum), colonoscopy (examining the colon), bronchoscopy (examining the airways), and cystoscopy (examining the bladder).
