End mounts are mounting interfaces located at the ends of components or assemblies, designed to accept fasteners or connectors to attach another part. They provide a fixed location for joining subsystems, help manage load paths, and enable modular configuration. End mounts are distinguished from side or center mounts by their position and often by the direction of the primary load they carry.

End mounts come in a variety of forms, including flat-end blocks with through holes, flange-style end mounts that extend a surface to mate with a mating flange, and connectable plug-in end joints used in modular frames. They are typically designed to fit standard fasteners and may offer adjustable or pre-set spacing to align adjacent components. Interfaces may be metric or imperial threaded holes, tapped holes, or through-holes for shoulder bolts.

Materials commonly used include aluminum alloys for light weight and corrosion resistance, steel and stainless steel for strength, and engineering plastics for cost and electrical insulation. Finishes range from anodized aluminum and zinc-plated steel to black oxide or powder coatings to improve wear and corrosion resistance.

Applications span robotics, automation equipment, machine frames, camera rigs, mounting for sensors or actuators, enclosures, and aerospace or medical devices. They enable end-to-end assembly without modifying primary structures.

Design considerations include load path and direction, static and dynamic loads, torque, fastener type and size, tolerances and alignment, environmental exposure, vibration resistance, and compatibility with mating parts. Selection typically balances strength, stiffness, weight, and cost.
