Emittertyp is a term used primarily in German-language technical contexts to denote the category or class of an emitter, the source that generates energy, particles, or signals. It combines emitter, the source of emission, with Typ, indicating a particular type or class. The term is not universally standardized, but appears in datasheets, design documents, and research papers to summarize the emission mechanism or source characteristics in a compact way.

In physics and engineering, emittertyp is used to describe the nature of sources that produce radiation or particles. Examples of emittertypes include thermionic emitters, which release electrons by heating; photoemitters, which release electrons under illumination; and nuclear or radiative emitters, which release particles such as alpha, beta, or gamma rays. Optical emitters, including laser and light-emitting diode sources, are also categorized by emittertype to distinguish how photons are produced and the spectral properties of the emitted light.
