Elektrosuureen is a term used in Finnish-language discussions of speculative energy storage technologies. It denotes a hypothetical class of materials or devices that can store and release electrical energy rapidly and with high energy density by exploiting electric-field–driven ionic transport and phase-change phenomena. In proposed models, elektrosuureen would blend elements of electrochemical capacitors and electrostrictive or electrocaloric materials, potentially forming a gel or solid electrolyte whose conductivity and mechanical state are reversible under voltage, effectively creating a programmable energy reservoir.

The concept emerged in online discussions and some speculative literature in recent decades, but it has not been demonstrated in peer-reviewed experiments. No reproducible data confirm the existence of a material that behaves as described, and mainstream researchers treat elektrosuureen as a theoretical construct rather than a proven technology.

The anticipated advantages include very high power density, rapid charge-discharge cycles, and potentially long cycle life if chemical stability can be managed. Key challenges include material stability under repeated electric-field cycling, safety concerns, compatibility with electrodes, thermal management, and scalable manufacturing.

Due to the lack of experimental validation, elektrosuureen remains a topic of interest mainly for theoretical exploration and science-fiction contexts. If proven feasible, it could have implications for grid storage, electric vehicles, and portable electronics; until then, it stands as an intriguing but unverified concept.
