Eksponeringsforhold, or exposure conditions, describes the set of circumstances that determine how much a person, object, or material is exposed to a stimulus. The concept is used across disciplines to understand and control the dose or amount of exposure that results.

The core components are the intensity of the stimulus (for example light level, radiation dose rate, or contaminant concentration), the duration of exposure, and the pattern or frequency of exposure (continuous, intermittent, or peak). Additional factors include the route of exposure (inhalation, dermal contact, ingestion), distance and shielding, and environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity. The timing relative to sensitivity phases (for example diurnal cycles or developmental stages) can also matter.

In photography or imaging contexts, eksponeringsforhold refer to lighting conditions that influence how an image records brightness and contrast. They involve scene luminance, sensor sensitivity (ISO), aperture, and shutter speed, and are often managed through metering, exposure compensation, and bracketing.

In occupational health and radiological or environmental contexts, exposure assessment estimates the dose received by people or materials, combining intensity, time, frequency, and route of exposure. Management includes reducing intensity, shortening exposure duration, increasing distance or shielding, and using protective equipment or engineering controls, guided by exposure limits and safety standards.
