Ekotizimlar is a term used to describe farming systems or landscapes that emphasize ecological principles, sustainability and education. They combine agricultural production with biodiversity conservation, soil and water stewardship, and often community involvement. Ekotizimlar may function as smallholder farms, community initiatives or visitor-oriented sites that offer experiential learning and nature-based tourism.

Key features of ekotizimlar include the use of agroecological practices such as crop diversification, intercropping, composting, and biological pest control; integration of trees and other perennial vegetation (agroforestry); soil health management; and efficient water use through rainwater harvesting and drip irrigation.
