eipolaaristen

Eipolaaristen is a Finnish language form that functions as the genitive plural of the adjective eipolaarinen, meaning nonpolar. In standard Finnish the normative term for nonpolar substances is epäpolaarinen and its inflected forms, such as epäpolaaristen, are used in scientific and descriptive contexts. The form eipolaaristen appears mainly in texts where diacritic marks are omitted or in ASCII transliterations, and it is understood as a variant of epäpolaaristen.

In scientific usage, eipolaaristen/yhdisteiden describes entities that lack a permanent dipole moment. Nonpolar substances are typically characterized by low dielectric constants, poor water solubility, and relatively weak intermolecular dipole–dipole interactions; their intermolecular forces are largely dominated by London dispersion forces.
