Egyensúlyelemzés, often translated as equilibrium analysis, is a fundamental concept in economics and other social sciences used to understand how different forces interact within a system to reach a stable state. It examines the conditions under which the supply and demand for a particular good or service are equal, thereby determining the market price and quantity.

In a market context, equilibrium occurs when the quantity of a product that producers are willing to sell at a certain price exactly matches the quantity that consumers are willing to buy at that same price. This point is often visualized on a supply and demand graph as the intersection of the supply and demand curves. At this equilibrium price, there is no surplus or shortage of the good.

The concept of equilibrium is not limited to simple markets. It can be applied to more complex economic models, such as macroeconomic equilibrium, where aggregate demand equals aggregate supply, or general equilibrium, which considers the simultaneous equilibrium of all markets in an economy. The analysis helps predict how changes in various factors, like consumer preferences, production costs, or government policies, will affect the equilibrium.

It's important to note that economic equilibrium is often a theoretical construct. In reality, markets are dynamic and constantly adjusting, so true, static equilibrium may rarely be achieved.
