eflingu

eflingu is a constructed international auxiliary language designed to be easy to learn and friendly to natural language processing. Initiated by a collaborative community in the early 2020s, it is released under an open license and maintained through public proposals and revisions.

Phonology and orthography: The language uses a compact phoneme inventory common to European languages. Vowels: a e i o u; consonants limited to essential phonemes. The writing system is a phonemic Latin alphabet without diacritics, with each symbol representing a single sound. Syllables are typically CV or CVC, and stress falls on the penultimate syllable.

Grammar: Eflingu follows a largely analytic, subject–verb–object order. Nouns have no gender or case; articles are optional. Adjectives precede nouns. Verbs do not conjugate for person or number; tense, aspect, and mood are indicated with particles or auxiliary words placed after the verb. Pronouns have distinct subject and object forms.

Lexicon: Core vocabulary seeks broad recognizability by drawing roots from multiple language families. Word formation relies on regular affixation and compounding, enabling rapid derivation of new terms while preserving clarity.

Usage and status: The project is used in language-learning communities and as a testbed for natural language processing research. It offers online dictionaries, documentation, and basic parsing and text-generation tools maintained by volunteers. Community governance emphasizes inclusivity and transparent revision history.
