Ecofascism is a political ideology that combines environmentalist or ecological concerns with far-right or fascist politics. It generally advocates for the protection of the environment and nature, but often through authoritarian, anti-immigrant, or xenophobic means.

Core tenets of ecofascism can include a belief in the inherent superiority of certain racial or ethnic groups and a desire to preserve a romanticized, often ethnically homogenous, natural landscape. This can manifest as opposition to immigration, which is seen as a threat to both national identity and environmental resources. Some ecofascist viewpoints may also advocate for population control, sometimes framed as an ecological necessity, which can have discriminatory implications.

Historically, elements of ecofascist thought can be traced back to early 20th-century romantic nationalism and blood and soil ideologies, which linked a people to their land. In contemporary times, ecofascist ideas have been found within some far-right movements and online extremist communities. Critics argue that ecofascism co-opts genuine environmental concerns to advance hateful and exclusionary agendas, diverting attention from systemic issues like industrial pollution and unsustainable consumption patterns that are not tied to specific ethnic groups or immigration. The ideology is widely condemned by mainstream environmental and political organizations.
