eIDASiga

eIDASiga is a proposed framework that combines the European Union's eIDAS identity trust services with modern Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) to enable interoperable, cross-border digital identity and service access. It is typically described as a conceptual layer rather than a single product.

It aims to provide seamless authentication and consent-based attribute sharing across borders while maintaining compliance with eIDAS requirements for qualified electronic signatures, seals, time-stamps, and certificates. It envisions linking national eID schemes, QTSPs, and identity governance processes to support lifecycle management of digital identities.

Core components include an eIDAS-based authentication layer, a trust services layer, an identity governance layer for provisioning, access reviews, and policy enforcement, and an interoperability layer using standards such as SAML, OIDC, and X.509. It may employ bridging services to connect national eID schemes with enterprise IAM and public administration platforms.

Use cases span e-government portals, cross-border public services, healthcare data access, education credentials, and tax administration. Adoption status remains exploratory, with pilots and research projects examining interoperability, privacy-preserving attribute exchange, and legal liability considerations.
