A dualtweeter is a loudspeaker configuration that uses two tweeter drivers to reproduce the high-frequency portion of the audio spectrum. The goal is to extend high-frequency response, improve dispersion, and increase handling of power without overloading a single driver.

In practice, dualtweeter designs integrate two tweeters with a crossover network that splits the audio band between the drivers. The two units may be identical or different in size, diaphragm material, or horn loading. Some implementations use two dome tweeters spaced closely to maintain a coherent polar pattern, while others pair a traditional tweeter with a dedicated super-tweeter or ribbon element to cover higher frequencies. Crossovers can be passive or active, and in some setups the system is biamplified to separately drive the two tweeters for better time alignment and level matching. Proper alignment and enclosure design are essential to minimize phase interactions and lobing that can degrade imaging.

Advantages of the dualtweeter approach include broader and more uniform horizontal dispersion at high frequencies, reduced thermal and mechanical strain on any single driver, and the potential for higher overall loudness in the treble region. Drawbacks can include increased cost, greater crossover complexity, potential phase and timing challenges, and marginal gains if the rest of the speaker’s design limits the treble.

Common in high-fidelity consumer speakers and some professional monitors, the dualtweeter concept remains one approach among several to extend and control high-frequency performance.
