Driftkompensierende refers to methods and devices that counteract slow, systematic changes in a measurement system’s output that are not tied to the quantity being measured. Such drift can arise from sensor aging, temperature variations, power supply fluctuations, or electronic aging, and it degrades accuracy over time if left unaddressed.

Techniques are broadly categorized as hardware-based and software-based. Hardware approaches include selecting low-drift components, temperature compensation networks, and the use of stable voltage or current references, as well as auto-zeroing and chopper-stabilized amplifiers that periodically cancel offset drifts. Software and digital techniques implement calibration or drift models that estimate drift as a function of time or temperature and subtract it from the measured value. Differential or ratiometric measurements can inherently reduce common-mode drift. In many systems, a combination of periodic calibration and continuous compensation is employed.

Applications are common in precision instrumentation, laboratory metrology, industrial sensors, and consumer electronics where long-term stability is important. Examples include voltage references and ADC systems, strain gauges in structural monitoring, and thermistor-based temperature sensing with compensation.

Considerations include the added complexity, potential noise increase, and calibration maintenance requirements. The effectiveness depends on how well the drift source is characterized and how stable the compensation model remains over the operating range.
