Draadeind, or threaded rod, is a long cylindrical metal rod with external screw threads running along its full length. It is typically headedless and is fastened in place using nuts and washers, or by welding or embedding the ends into components. In some cases a draadeind is a double-ended stud with threads on both ends.

Materials and finishes vary to match applications and environments. Common materials include carbon steel, stainless steel, galvanized steel, brass, and aluminum. Finishes such as zinc plating, galvanizing, nickel, or chrome plating improve corrosion resistance and wear. For high-strength or specialized uses, heat-treated steels or corrosion-resistant alloys may be specified.

Sizes and standards follow metric or imperial thread systems. In the metric range, draadeinden use ISO metric thread sizes (for example M3 to M60) with coarse or fine pitches. Lengths are cut or supplied to specification, and tolerances align with standard mechanical threading practices. In many contexts, the term draadeind corresponds to what engineers call a threaded rod or stud in English.

Applications and use cases are diverse. Draadeinden are employed to join components where a bolt would be too short or where an adjustable, removable, or long coupling is needed. They are common in machinery assemblies, construction, automotive work, electrical installations, and furniture fabrication. They enable clamping with nuts, act as anchor elements, or serve as extending fasteners where space or alignment requires flexibility.

Installation considerations include selecting the correct material and coating for exposure conditions, matching thread pitch and diameter to nuts and tapped holes, and applying appropriate torque to avoid thread damage. In corrosive or outdoor environments, galvanizing or stainless steel is preferred. Proper cutting, handling, and storage help prevent deformation or cross-threading.
