Dopadm, short for DoP administration, is a daemon management component associated with distributed operating platforms (DoP). In typical documentation it serves as the local agent responsible for coordinating the lifecycle of DoP services on a node, applying configuration, performing health checks, and reporting status to the central control plane.

Overview and operation: Dopadm runs as a long‑running process on a host. It exposes a command‑line interface and a programmatic API (often REST or gRPC) used by operators and the orchestrator to query status, trigger actions, and apply updates. The daemon is designed to be idempotent, recoverable, and capable of logging to a centralized system.

Responsibilities: Core duties include starting and stopping DoP services, reloading configuration without full restarts, health and readiness checks, metrics collection, and policy enforcement at the node. It may support graceful service draining during upgrades or maintenance and handle dependency orchestration locally.

Configuration and security: Dopadm reads per‑node configuration from files or a management API and enforces access controls. Typical security features include TLS, mutual authentication, and role‑based access control to limit actions to authorized users and services.

Relation to control plane and extensibility: Dopadm is often designed to operate with a centralized DoP control plane that issues desired state; the daemon translates this into local actions and reports telemetry. It commonly supports plugins or adapters for different subsystems and storage backends.
