Dispersioonikorraldus, also known as dispersion management, refers to techniques used to control and minimize the effects of chromatic dispersion in optical fiber communication systems. Chromatic dispersion occurs because different wavelengths of light travel at slightly different speeds through the optical fiber. This causes the optical pulse to spread out in time, limiting the data rate and the transmission distance.

Various methods are employed for dispersion management. One common technique is the use of dispersion-compensating fiber (DCF). DCF has a high negative dispersion coefficient, meaning it compensates for the positive dispersion introduced by the standard single-mode fiber. This method involves digital signal processing at the receiver to electronically correct for the dispersion effects that have occurred during transmission. EDC offers flexibility and can compensate for a wide range of dispersion values.
