Dimlichten, in Dutch road terminology, refers to the use of low-beam headlights (also called dipped headlights). They illuminate the road ahead while directing light downward to avoid dazzling oncoming traffic. Dimlichten contrast with high beams (hooglichten) and with fog lights (mistlampen).
