Dienstroadmap is a planning framework used by organizations to describe the evolution of a service offering—such as a customer-facing service, a digital platform, or an internal IT service—over a defined time horizon. The term combines the idea of a service (dienst) with a roadmap to emphasize service-centric strategy and delivery. In practice, a dienstroadmap aligns business objectives, user requirements, and technical work in a single, coherent narrative that guides investment, prioritization, and coordination across teams.

The primary purpose of a dienstroadmap is to communicate strategic direction and sequencing to stakeholders, enable resource and budget planning, and coordinate activities across product management, operations, design, and development. It helps translate ambiguous ambitions into concrete initiatives, milestones, and ownership, while making trade-offs and dependencies visible.

Key components typically include a vision or service goal, a defined time horizon (for example 12 to 18 months), a set of initiatives or programs, milestones and owners, dependencies and risks, performance indicators or success metrics, and governance or review mechanisms. The document is usually maintained as a living artifact, updated to reflect changing user feedback, market conditions, or technical constraints, with regular reviews and reprioritization sessions.

A dienstroadmap complements other planning artifacts such as product roadmaps and IT roadmaps by focusing on the end-to-end service experience and its operational backbone. It tends to be broader than a product roadmap, incorporating service standards, support processes, and ongoing service improvements in addition to feature delivery.
